ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm Michelle, a twenty-something creator with way too many interests. I grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University - New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. I am currently a pastry student at Le Cordon Bleu Paris. I am also a multidisciplinary artist and am proficient in the Adobe Suite, Rhinoceros 3D, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD and Lumion.
I have been freelancing since the age of 14 making custom pieces from stickers to surfboards. I also have experience in designing custom tattoos as well as custom canvases, jackets, sneakers, water bottles, and more. I have a background in Chinese brush painting and enjoy watercolors and calligraphy too. While I am mostly a pen and ink artist, I have developed skills in acrylic painting and leather painting. I also enjoy hand-lettering and have done custom envelopes for bridal showers and name cards for weddings and similar events. More recently, I have also done graphic designs for various companies.
The name mixed wash comes from the term "mixed media" which is defined as the use of a variety of media in an entertainment or work of art. A "wash" in art is defined as a term for a visual arts technique resulting in a semi-transparent layer of color. More recently, I've discovered a passion for baking where the term "mixing" is an integral part of the process and "wash" is used to refer usually to an egg wash. In short, the egg wash makes every dessert it touches just a little prettier. Together, they encapsulate the "jill of all trades, master of none" mentality I strive for.
